How often should I pump my septic tank?

Recommendation is pumping the septic tank every 3 to 5 years.  If you use a garbage disposal plan on pumping your tank yearly.  Ground food does not easily settle in the septic tank and will wash out into your drainfield.  This can shorten the life of the drainfield and lead to costly repairs. It is always more cost effective to maintain rather than repair.
